[Dear Diary] 1. Do you want to break away from Miss Rona (Coronavirus)? Go Camping!

It was the fifth month of Miss Rona’s quarantine and I think we all felt it was time to break away from her and go somewhere. Somewhere we could refresh, reset, and reconnect. Yes, with each other, but more so with ourselves as individuals independently.

It was important that the kids got time with nature, actually feeling the sun, hearing the chirping birds, seeing the waves of the lake, breathing. I mean, they have been breathing that’s how they’re alive, but I mean fresh air, real outside fresh air, not the stale recycled from being locked at home for 5 months.

We finally hit the road, our first camping trip ever. And my God was it beautiful. We stay in an RV at Cozy Hills Campground. We walked in the forest, I probably even had great conversations with some squirrels, but not the bears, they aren’t that friendly. We played laser tag with this other family, and of course, we won.

We made a campfire, which was really hard by the way; no one tells you how hard it is to get the fire going. Anyway, when we finally got the fire going, we roasted some marshmallows and just watched the fire go. It was actually quite interesting just watching the fire, you wouldn’t think, but I promise it is so interesting.

Before you think we forgot about water, we didn’t .... we went canoeing in the West hill Lake also. The water was so clean and the view was scenic. There were some houses and people just living their lives, they jumped in the lake, swam around, and just lived. It was nice to see people living unbothered with everything, just at peace, alive.
